This page is dedicated to Handspring's Visors.

The Visor is the greatest, least expensive, and most expandable personal data assistant on the market today (according to my opinion.

History

The Visor is made by the company Handspring. Handspring was created by the former CEO of Palm and the co-creator of the Palm OS. These two people did not like the way 3COM was handling things when they bought out Palm a couple of years ago so they left (according to what I've heard). They decided to start they're own company to rival the great Palm. So they created Handspring and the Visor. The difference between a Palm device and the Visor is the extra port in the back. It's call the Springport designed specifically for Springboard modules. With this extra port, a user can plug in the Springboard module and enable the Visor to do an infinite number of functions. Examples at the moment include:
Springboard Modules
Cellphone Modem Pager
Network adapters Extra Memory Backup Module
Games Books Advanced function Calculators
Voice Recorders Scanners Universal Remote Control
MP3 Player Digital Camera Radio

So you can see that the there are already numerous functions that the Visor can perform. I bought the Blue Visor Deluxe with 8MB of RAM. for $250. At the time, it was the cheapest Palm device out there. Handspring has forced Palm to lower the prices on all their devices to compete with the Visor.
Just recently, Handspring released two new devices that update their already marvelous device. The Visor Prism has a 65,536 color screen, rechargeable batteries, a Motorolla Dragonball VZ processor (33 MHz) and an updated Palm OS (3.5.2H, H stands for Handspring changes). The Visor Platinum has the same specifications without the rechargeable batteries and the color screen. When they were released, the Handspring Stock jumped from $36 a share to $92 a share. I wanted to invest in Handspring when the first gave their IPO at $20 a share but I was clueless as to how to do that. I am kicking myself now for now trying harder.
So, you might be wondering what this great piece of electronics looks like. Look no farther, here are some pictures: (You can click some of these to see a larger view)

Handspring is considering marketing a new, even smaller PDA. It is dubbed the "Citizen" at the moment. From what I've heard, it is supposed to function only as a data display. It will insert into the Springboard port. The following pictures show a prototype about the size of a credit card or if you have a Visor, about the same size as the space for the Springboard.
